Request for translation administrator

[edit]

Hello, I would like to apply for translation administrator permissions. I am a member of the organizing team for Wiki Loves Monuments 2026 in China, and I may also serve as a host for other related activities in this community in the future. I need this permission to smoothly translate the local event pages into English. I will use my permissions responsibly, and if necessary, I can also help translate some local pages between Chinese and English. Thank you very much! No, the permissions have nothing to do with "translating". These rather deal with translation preparation and marking pages for translation. Kindly give a few sample pages where you have prepared pages for translation. signed, Aafi (guesthouse) 14:36, 23 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Such as Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2026 in China and Commons:Wiki Loves Folklore 2026 in China. The main language of these pages is Chinese. As the host, we might make some adjustments to the details on the Chinese pages, and at that time, the pages in other languages should also be adjusted accordingly. If I don’t have the permission to mark our changes as ready for translation in time, it will make it difficult to update pages in other languages like English.
For example, the WLM26 in China event date changed from August to September, but because no translation admin marked our previous changes as ready for translation, I had to do the translation myself on the English page. Once it’s marked, it will show up as 'not translated' here. So, I hope I have the permission to mark them myself to reduce the workload for other translation admins. Thank you. I am still skeptical. Can you link exact diffs that showcase your knowledge of translation markup? signed, Aafi (guesthouse) 07:18, 24 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I haven't fully tagged translations for a particular page, but because I modify pages, I notice these codes and have learned how to use them. Since I don't have the permissions, @Exusiai was the only one handling these tasks before. Even when I created and translated some pages, I also had him help publish them. But he's quite busy in real life, so I hope I can do some of the work myself to ensure the activity pages run smoothly. I can promise that I will not abuse my permission, if I do something wrong, you can remove it immediately. FradonStar (talk) 10:25, 24 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
as I said, please prepare a sample page for translation, utilising the guidelines at m:i18n. Permission to mark, depends on the knowledge of markup. signed, Aafi (guesthouse) 06:03, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
